Rapper and record label owner Afeez Fashola a.k.a Naira Marley, has threatened to slam a N500m defamation and libel suit against Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo.
Naira Marley through his counsel Olalekan Ojo wrote to Iyabo Ojo, in a letter dated December 12 to publicly apoligise within seven days on her Instagram page and a national daily for spreading false and malicious information about Naira Marley with regards to the death of his former signee Mohbad.
After Mohbad died suddenly on September 12, Iyabo Ojo who led a ‘Justice for Mohbad’ campaign had dragged Naira Marley and his associate Balogun Eletu a.k.a Sam Larry over their alleged bullying of the late rapper.
Iyabo Ojo wrote on her Instagram September 18, “Even when I (Iyabo Ojo) have sent boys to you (Naira Marley), you disappointed us wahali, but you have a hand in everything that caused that boy pain, agony, trauma, you had a hand in it, and if you say you don’t have a hand in it, then come out and defend yourself. Naira Marly you sabotaged that boy, (MOHBAD) you frustrated him, and dealt with him spiritually, physically and mentally.”
Naira Marley and Sam Larry became prime suspects in the death of Mohbad following intense social media scrutiny of their activities with Mohbad, who himself in video hinted that he was being shadowed by Naira Marley after he left his Marlain Records.
Though Naira Marley and Sam Larry were kept in custody by the police, investigations revealed that they were not responsible for the death of Mohbad, but rather it was negligence by an unqualified medical worker that was primarily responsible.
