Victor Osimhen has reportedly agreed in principle to renew his contract with Italian Serie A champions Napoli.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, barring any unforeseen circumstance Osimhen will sign a deal that will keep him till 2026, the current contract will expire in 2025. The new contract will have a release clause of €130m.
Osimhen who was the top scorer in Serie A last season has been linked to English Premier League clubs Arsenal and Chelsea who may now rethink on signing the player following the new development.
Cheslea were hoping to cash on the stall in contract negotiations between Osimhen and the Napoli to sign the player in the January window.
The Nigerian international featured 32 times for Napoli in the Serie A last season, scoring 26 goals in a campaign that saw him win the Golden Boot and earn the club the Scudetto for the first time in over 30 years. Since then, the star has been on the radar of every top club in Europe but has more often been linked with both London clubs alongside Brentford striker Ivan Toney.
Over the past few weeks, reports have continued to suggest that both the Blues and the Gunners are gearing up for bids on the star despite Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis’ continued talk about a new deal between Osimhen and the club.
