Veteran Ghanaian musician Reggie Rockstone has advised his country folks to stop wasting their time arguing with Nigerians who can cook the best ‘Jollof’ rice and instead promote ‘Waakye’ a local diet which is more delicious than the Senegalese cuisine.
Over the years there have been an unending debate between Nigerian and Ghanaians about who cooks Jollof rice better, but according to Rockstone who was speaking during an interview on Property FM, Ghanaian chefs and lovers of Waakye should make the delicacy a global cuisine choice.
“Jollof doesn’t belong to us; it comes from Senegal. Our own food, Waakye, has been neglected, and we’re rather fighting others for what belongs to someone else,” Rockstone said.
“When you look at Waakye’s features and special effects that surround it and you compare it to Jollof, you’ll realise Jollof is nowhere near Waakye.”
