Former Super Eagles goalkeeper and captain, Vincent Enyeama and the Nigeria Football Federation have denied reaching any form agreement for the 101 capped player to return to the team.
This rebuttal is coming on the background of viral social media reports, which have it that Enyeama would team up with the Super Eagles in Cote d’ Ivoire. This was after Enyeama himself posted on his X handle: “See you in Côte d’ Ivoire.”
But he corrected the impression the fans of the Super Eagles have been nursing that he would play some form of role to boost the goalkeeping division which has been lagging and a weak link.
“ I haven’t been given any appointment by the NFF, nor was there any such discussion. That was only a personal comment meaning I will visit them in camp when I attend the AFCON.”
“Any opportunity to encourage the lads, I will use it…”
Also NFF communications director Ademola Olajire said.
“NFF has not offered Enyeama any role. People should stop the bruiting of this very fake news. It is annoying.”
“If there’s anything like that, there would be a statement from the NFF.” Olajiire clarified.
Enyeama won the AFCON with the Super Eagles in 2013 after winning bronze in the 2004, 2006, 2010 tournaments. He captained the Super Eagles to the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups, and the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup.
