Striker Tarem Moffi was pained to have been left out of the African Cup of Nations, but his coach at Nice, Francesco Farioli said the player is now focused on helping his team do well in the French Ligue 1.
Moffi, despite his two goals out of three games contribution to the Super Eagles qualification for the AFCON tournament, was left out of the squad for Cote d’Ivoire where the Eagles will kick their first ball against Equatorial Guinea on January 14.
“I have two different feelings (on the absence of Moffi at the AFCON),” Farioli said
“On the one hand, regret because Terem Moffi cared a lot about representing his country, his family and his friends. But on the other hand, he is our best recruit of January and we are happy that he is with us.
“He trained with a very positive mindset with the desire to do well and put himself at the disposal of the team. We see him very focused and very determined.
“The disappointment is gone and he is focused on the next match.”
Moffi will be looking to continue his scoring form when Nice take on Auxerre in a Coupe de France clash on Saturday.
So far Moffi scored six goals in 13 starts in the French Ligue 1 this season including a brace in Nice’s 2-0 win over Lens on 20 December.
