Former world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua will test his come back intent with former UFC fighter, Francis Ngannou in a yet to be announced date in Riyad Saudi Arabia.
Ngannou came into boxing limelight a big way October 2023 when rattled WBC champion Tyson Fury in non title contest. Fury won on points in the fight many thought the Cameroon born Ngannou had the upper hand.
Ngannou is expected to stretch Joshua, who won three times in 2023 as he rebuilds his career after losing his world titles and suffering successive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk.
Promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed the bout between Joshua and Ngannou on his X page Friday night.
“Tonight we confirm it’s a done deal! @anthonyjoshua v @francis_ngannou collide on a huge night in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – press conference Jan 15 in London with full details dropping soon!”
It is expected that the fight will be staged on March 9 – the date originally scheduled for Joshua vs Deontay Wilder.
