Bayern Leverkusen top striker, Victor Boniface has lamented the injury, which sent him packing from the Super Eagles camp ahead of the African Cup of Nations.
Boniface was expected to pep up the Super Eagles attacking line up at the AFCON along side Victor Osimhen, but a muscle injury changed the settings for the player.
Lamenting the ordeal in a post on his X page, he likened the scenerio to a similar incident that occurred when he was invited to the Flying Eagles.
“U20 Nations Cup got injured seven days before the Nations Cup.
“Super Eagles got injured six days before the Nations Cup. Only GOD Knows why.”
Meanwhile Terem Moffi who was previously omitted from the squad will step up to replace Boniface.
Moffi resigned to fate after being left out by Jose Peseiro. He would now join the team in Cote d’Ivoire where the Super Eagles will kick the first ball of the tournament January 14 against Equatorial Guinea.
However, it remains to be seen how Moffi’s club Nice will react to the development.
The 24-year-old Moffi, who has scored six goals in Ligue 2 this season, played in the AFCON qualifiers and it was a bit surprising to fans when he was dropped.
