Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro said his side was luckless after they draw 1-1 against Equatorial Guinea in their opening match of African Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles missed a couple of chances as they battled lowly rated Equatorial Guinea who in the 37 minutes scored a brilliant goal, but the euphoria of scoring died down, Victor Osimhen stepped up to level the game.
“We hoped to win this match and we did everything to win. Our team was better than Equatorial Guinea but we lacked luck,” said Nigeria coach Jose Peseiro.
“I am not happy. I deserved to win — this draw does not suit us. The team created a lot of chances but we did not score.
“We hope that next time, even with fewer opportunities, we will score. We simply have to improve our finishing.”
