Group A of the 2024 African Cup of Nations has become complicated with Equatorial Guinea’s 4-2 thrashing of Guinea Bissau.
Emilio Nsue Lopez scored the first hat-trick of the tournament to boost his country’s chances. Jose Miranda added the fourth, before an own goal and a dying munite effort by J. Correira handed Guinea Bissau consolation.
E.Guinea with four points now top the group ahead of the heavy weight clash between the Super Eagles and hosts Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire. For both sides it is now a must win if they are to book a place in the round of 16.
It is even more dicey for the Super Eagles who have just a point from their previous game against Equatorial Guinea.
A loss would mean the Eagles will depend on Cote d’Ivoire to beat Equatorial Guinea and while they post a generous win over weeping Guinea Bissau.
