Super Eagles top striker Victor Osimhen said the team will aim to finish strongly against Guinea Bissau in their last group A game of the African Cup of Nations on Monday at the Félix Houphouët Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.
Guinea Bissau are down and out after losing against Cote d’Ivoire and Equatorial Guinea, but Osimhen said the Eagles would not be underrating the ‘Wild Dogs’ adding that they would approach the game with the same mentality against Cote d’Ivoire Elephants.
“We aim for a strong performance against Guinea-Bissau. They will undoubtedly approach the game with determination, and we won’t underestimate any team, considering what they’ve done to qualify.”
Speaking in the same vein Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro added.
“For the next match we have to control the game, try to be less timid and not give possession to the opponent.
“I told my players not to over celebrate the victory. We have four days left before the next match. From day one I told them: ‘you must win the AFCON.”
Nigeria are currently second on goal difference to surprise group toppers Equatorial Guinea who will play their last game against Cote d’Ivoire. It is a must win for the Elephants if they desire to progress to the round of 16.
For the Super Eagles a win or a draw will see them through.
