Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro, said the team needs to beat their last group A opponents Guinea Bissau and finish on top of the table.
A draw will see the Super Eagles to the round of 16, but Peseiro noted that the game against Guinea Bissau who beat Nigeria 0-1 during the qualifiers at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja, is another opportunity for the team to improve on goal scoring and defending as the AFCON contest gets keener.
“It’s an important match tomorrow, and we want to fight for first position. We must do our goal, our job, our obligation and want to win,” Peseiro said ahead of the game on Monday.
“If the team wins, we must improve our confidence,
“Wins require more confidence, more hard work, and we must not relax. It is difficult to win a match in this tournament; the teams play better, and they can beat any team.
For that, we need to show better performance. They need to demand the maximum from ourselves because if we don’t do it, any team can beat us.”
Meanwhile his Guinea Bissau counterpart Baciro Candé said his team will not lay down and be rolled over by Nigeria
“We are excited to play a good match tomorrow,” he told reporters on Sunday.
“We have one match to close the first phase of the competition and we will do everything to have a good game tomorrow.”
“It will be difficult but we will do everything possible tomorrow. “We want to have our first AFCON win tomorrow.”
“I trust in my team, we want to have a good performance. Mentally we are strong, we are here because we are here because we are good. We have a good qualifying phase.
“We know it will be very difficult but we are prepared to get the win tomorrow,” he said.
