The Grammy Awards committee has omitted the names of Wizkid and Tems from the list of past African winners of the award since 1960.
Tems won it with “Wait For You” featuring Drake in 2023, while Wizkid won in 2021 with the ‘Best Music Video’ category with ‘Brown Skin Girl’ , a song by Beyonce. Wizkid and Tems being left out of the list is probably because they did collabos with other artists.
But the duo were nowhere to be found on the list of 10 past African winners ahead of the 66th Grammy Awards billed for February 4, 2024 in Los Angeles. Asake, Olamide, Tems, Burna Boy, and Ayra Starr have been nominated in the ‘Best African Music Performance’ category.
