William Troost-Ekong and Semi Ajayi, two players in the heart of the Super Eagles defence said they are banking on team spirit to see them through to the final game of the African Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
In five games the Super Eagles are yet to taste defeat and have conceded only one goal as they prepare for the semi finals clash on Wednesday. Both players have insisted that team spirit took them where they are and team spirit will also lead them to the title.
“I believe in the mentality of this team, the fighting spirit and that’s the thing that’s going to make us champions,” Troost-Ekong said
“Confidence is growing game by game, we are still creating a lot and the fighting spirit has given me confidence.”
Ajayi who has impressed in the tournament with his marking, ball winning and joining in the attack added:
” I think the beauty of this team is that we’ve got so many weapons.
“You can’t really put all your attention on one person because we have so many people who are capable of creating and scoring.
“We’re not done yet. We’ve still got another another game on Wednesday, and hopefully another game on Sunday.
“We came here to win, so full focus goes towards Wednesday now,” Ajayi added.
