Nigeria Athletics Masters led by Gloria Obajimi said they have no hand in the arrangements by a drive by one of its members to register athletes in some international competitions.
The member identified as Olajide Femi Peters is said to have been making contacts with meet organisers abroad with a view of having Nigerian athletes participate in those meets.
“The Nigeria Masters is disassociating itself from such arrangements, because the executive committee is not privy to it,” said Alex Udjoh who is the secretary-general of the Nigeria Masters.
“Besides Mr. Peters is sending names of unknown persons to various countries.
“Currently we have confirmed information on Albenia championship
Giving them the impression that he’s acting on our behalf.
“We have decided to do disclaimer because he has no authority to act on our behalf the Exco.”
Udjoh added that the Nigeria Masters had to take the measure to prevent any form of visa racketeering that will tarnish the image of the association and Nigeria.
” We will not let them destroy the image of Nigeria and thereby inviting sanctions on Nigeria Athletics Masters.”
