Bafana Bafana have reached their last bus stop against Nigeria in the semi-final of the Africa Cup of Nation, former South Africa U-23 player Junior Khanye has predicted.
Khanye said the Bafana Bafana have run their full course and it would be a miracle if they beat the Super Eagles to book their place in the final.
“Nigeria is going to beat us, and that’s when we will get a wake-up call. I’m not saying this because I’m being negative, but it’s just me stating facts.
“I love Bafana Bafana, and I want to see them doing well. But, this is our last game, those guys [Nigeria] are going to punish us.”
South Africa played a gruelling 120 minutes of football against Cape Verde in the quarter final and it was the heroics of goalkeeper and captain Rowan Williams that put them in the final four mix.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles midfielder Samuel Chukwueze is optimistic, the game would not be dragged into penalties.
“Penalty is a game of luck, anybody can miss. It is the one he [Williams] saw that he saved.
“I’m not saying he is not a good goalkeeper, he is actually a good goalkeeper, but the most important thing is for us to win in 90 minutes or 120 minutes. We will win without going into penalties.”
