Shock and disbelieve greeted the Alagbaka area of Akure, Ondo State where a socialite Sesan Adelabu, popularly known as Emirates allegedly hacked his wife to death with a machete and then took his own life.
The incident occurred Friday night and the police have gathered the remains of the couple and deposited them at the morgue. It was gathered that the couple have been at loggerheads and Emirates who own petrol and gas station in the centre of Akure, decided to end it by attacking the wife after which he drank down a bottle of lethal pesticide sniper.
“I can’t confirm what led to this, but I know the two of them had not been on good terms recently,” said a source close to the family.
“It’s a sad one for us tonight, especially we members of his club.”
A top senior police officer said that detectives from the state command have visited the scene, and an investigation has begun.
The tragic development came barely two months after a popular Akure socialite, Sunday Bayo, otherwise known as ‘Sayo,’ was killed in a brothel at Ijapo Estate in Akure
