Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali said despite reports of transfer offers coming his way after his revelation at the African Cup of Nations, he and his club Chippa United of South Africa are yet to see any deal on the table.
The 27-year-old Nwabali was reported to be wanted by Saudi Arabia clubside, Belgium’s Union St Gilloise and Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa.
“I only see offers online,” he said, as per SNL24.
“To be honest, some of my friends send me screenshots to say, ‘hey bro, this offer is coming’ but to be honest, I haven’t seen an offer on my table.
“When sometimes there are rumours, I wish that they can all come to pass, but I haven’t seen any offer.”
Nwabali rose to the occasion at the AFCON though he conceded four goals from seven matches, his heroics especially in the semi-final game against South Africa made him one of the standout Super Eagles performances in the tournament won by Cote d’Ivoire. They beat the Super Eagles 2-1.
“There is no doubt that Nwabali’s performance at the 2023 AFCON has put him in a better position to continue as the team’s number one goalkeeper, said former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peter Rufai.
“He has proven himself beyond every reasonable doubt based on what he has achieved within the space of three weeks of the tournament.
“For me, he has done enough to remain Super Eagles number one goalkeeper.”
