South African national women team beat Tanzania 4-0 aggregate score to set up a clash with Nigeria’s Super Falcon in the 2024 Olympics qualifier and coach Desiree Ellis said it is a do or die affair for her team.
Bayana Bayana beat Tanzania 1-0 in Johannesburg and according to Ellis, they would start preparing early for the clash against the Super Falcons in the FIFA window of April 1-9 as the Bayana Bayana are eager to participate in their third Olympics. While the Super Falcons are targeting qualification to return to the Games for the fourth time. Their last appearance was in the 2008.
“It will be do or die (vs Nigeria),” Ellis said.
“We want to have an early camp, we will improve our chances when we prepare early and very well
“We know the Nigeria game is not going to be easy but we’ve shown in the past we can play with the best and having our best players back will also help a lot
“When it comes to those tough matches you need players with experience and you have to get the mix right with the youth and experience. So, hopefully we can get that right balance and get a positive result, first away from home again and then bring it at home and get the result.”
