Victor Osimhen lifted Napoli with a hat-trick as they beat Sassuolo 6-1 in Wednesday’s Serie A tie.
Sassuolo thought they had Napoli on the ropes with Uros Racic’s opener but that was the wake-up call they needed as Osimhen scored twice before half-time following Amir Rrahmani’s equaliser. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia got in on the act with two more to put the gloss on it.
Napoli got their first win under new manager Francesco Calzona, defeating Sassuolo 6-1, with a hat-trick from Victor Osimhen, a brace from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and another from Amir Rrahmani.
The result keeps the champions in ninth but they are now just eight points off the top four.
Sassuolo, on the other hand, drop into the relegation zone on goal difference and appear to be facing a serious battle to stay in Serie A.
Meanwhile Chelsea are reported to be talking to Osimhen’s agents with a view of bringing him to the Premier League.
Osimhen, according to multiple reports, is the top transfer target for the London club, who the striker supported while he was growing up in Lagos. The Super Eagles striker is already on a good salary of around Nine Million Euros a year at Napoli after he extended his contract with the Serie A champions till June 2026.
Rival London club Arsenal are also ready to pay Osimhen big.
