Nigerian-born British heavy weight boxer Anthony Joshua finished off Francis Ngannou in round two of their non title contest in Riyad, Saudi Arabia Friday night.
It was not the kind of fight many fans including Manny Pacquiao, Brazilian Ronaldo, Jose Mourinho had come to see, some of them actually booed Joshua as he stepped into the ring, but he was ruthless in the bout as he dropped Ngannou in the first round and then late in the second round with a right hand, Joshua sent Ngannou to the canvass and it was lights out for the Cameroonian MMA fighter.
He had entered the fight as a favourite following his courageous outing against Tyson Fury in his first ever boxing bout last October. But Ngannou was totally outclassed by Joshua who is eyeing a fight between the winner of Fury v Osyk unification bout.
“When I saw the fight with Fury, I thought damn, this guy could fight, I wanted a piece of that,” said Joshua in a post-fight interview.
“He’s an inspiration, a great champion, and this shouldn’t take away from his capabilities. He can come again. I told him he shouldn’t leave boxing. He’s two fights in, and he’s fought the best.
“He can go a long way if he stays dedicated.”
