There is no freedom in sight for detained Indigenous People of Biafra leader, Nnamdi Kanu as a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has dismissed a fresh bail application.
Nnamdi has been accused of treasonable felony and terrorism by the Federal government after he was arrested in Kenya in 2021 during a clandestine Department of State Services operation. A Court of Appeal judgement had granted Kanu bail, but it was voided by the Supreme Court in December 15, 2023.
In his ruling Tuesday in the fresh bail application, Justice Binta Nyako said the Court cannot grant Kanu bail having rejected his previous application.
Meanwhile the IPOB leader has told the Court that the DSS was giving him the wrong medication as tries to manage his health. He pleaded with the Court to transfer him to the Correctional Centre in Kuje. ,
“People will come to see me, they will not allow them. They don’t have a medical facility. I have congestive heart failure. They are patching me up.
“My foot is swollen. I asked them to conduct surgery, and they said they couldn’t. There is a conspiracy to die in detention. I want to be transferred to Kuje,” Kanu stated.
“I should be taken to Kuje correctional facility; I cannot defend myself in the DSS facility, I need to consult with my lawyers, I will respond to all charges and the court will see that it is all lies.”
