Afrobeats star David Adeleke a.k.a Davido and Brownhill Investment Company owned by former Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick have settled their contractual dispute over Davido’s no show after being paid to perform at last years “Warri Again” Concert.
Pinnick who claimed to have paid Davido $90, 000 to appear at the show had sued the ‘Unavailable’ crooner to court asking for N2b compensation. Pinnick’s company also prayed the court for N150 million as legal and professional fees with an additional N30 million as the filling cost.
However, both parties told a Delta High Court sitting in Effurun on Thursday that they have agreed to set out of court. The Court granted their request.
Justice Michael Obi of High Court Three, Effurun, on Thursday commended both parties for the amicable resolution to settle out of court.
“I commend both parties for exploring an amicable resolution to settle out of court,” Obi said.
Davido’s lawyer, Mr Oladayo Ogungbe confirmed after the court’s proceedings that both parties had been able to explore the out-of-court settlement.
“Davido is coming again to Warri on Oct. 4 to perform – that forms part of the settlement.
“It’s fine. It is better than going through the rigours of litigation.“Both parties consider the option of having the matter settled out of court, which in my opinion as a lawyer, is the best approach to any litigation.
“It is a win-win situation for both parties,” Ogungbe said. With NAN reports
