Super Eagles interim coach Finidi George had his managerial acumen under scrutiny after his team lost to Mali 2-0 in Tuesday night’s international friendly game in Marrakesh Morocco.
The Malians scored on both halves of the game to punish a wasteful and mistake prone Super Eagles.
“It was not a bad game. Good intensity. We created a couple of chances, but we could not score.
“And in games like this, if you don’t score, and make mistakes, you will be punished. Lost one. We were not outplayed,” said Finidi.
He added that the players gave a good account of themselves.
“In the first game as well, we did so well. I would have loved a different result, but that’s not the case. If you look at the performance of the players, it is commendable.”
The Super Eagles were runner up at the 2024 African Cup of Nations they lost to Cote d’Ivoire in the final. The Elephants beat Mali in the quarter final of the tournament played between January and February.
