Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie is hoping that the team clinches the Olympics qualifying ticket so that she could make her debut appearance.
The Super Falcons will play Bayana Bayana of South Africa April 5 in the first leg qualifier of the encounter at the Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja and Nnadozie is eyeing a good outing as the former African Champions are desperate to return to the Olympics they last participated in 2008.
“I read so many things about the Olympics. We didn’t manage to qualify in 2020, I felt bad at first, then I said to myself ‘Come on, you have time ahead of you’ and that it is another great opportunity to qualify,” Nnadozie told CAFonline.
“I want to know what it feels like to participate in the Olympic Games.”
The Super Falcons need to post a good result over Bayana Bayana a team they have struggled to beat in recent times.
South Africa coach Desiree Ellis admitted it will not be an easy double leg tie.
“It will be a tough match because they haven’t been in the Olympics since 2008 and their team has changed a bit since we last played them (at the 2022 WAFCON).
“They’re still one of the best teams on the continent. They’ve been serial winners (Nigeria have won 11 of 14 WAFCON titles) and have been consistent over the past few years. We’re in the same bracket but we’ve got to be consistent.”
