Super Eagles striker Samuel Chukwueze has earned the praise of Milan boss, Stefano Pioli after his contributions to their 3-0 win over Lecce in Saturday’s Serie A match.
Chukwueze made an assist for the opening goal. The player who joined the Italian side from Villarreal of Spain last Summer in a €20m deal had struggled with his form. He also failed to make any impact during the African Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
“His mind has changed. Now he has confidence, he’s positive, he believes in what he does,” said Pioli
“He understands what the team has to do on the pitch. He’s a quality player. I’m very happy for him because he’s been through a difficult time.
“From the outside looking in, everything seems rosy but the boys are experiencing significant pressure. He believed in it and worked hard, which pleases me, the club and the team,” he stated.
Following his display, Chukwueze is expected to make the Milan team in this week’s Europa league tie against Roma.
