AC Milan feel hard done by Samuel Chukwueze’s disallowed goals in their 3-3 draw against Sassuolo on Sunday.
It was a frustrating day for Chukwueze and Milan as two of his goals were disallowed at the Mapei Stadium. In the first half his headed goal was ruled off side.
And in the second half Chukwueze’s shoulder was judged to be a little bit caught out after he scored from a Rafael Leao cross from the left. But it was the tightest of calls in any Serie A game. A VAR review showed that Sassuolo’s Martin Erlic foot was almost level with Chukwueze.
Meanwhile, Milan coach Stefano Pioli said his side could have scored more goals in the match after going down 3-1 in the first half. Rafael Leao, Luka Jovic and Noah Okafor scored to level up things for Milan.
“We tried absolutely everything, we scored three goals, created many more chances. I think nobody could’ve complained if we had scored five or six today,” Pioli told DAZN.
“I had no doubts on the spirit or character of this team. Our objective now is to end the season well, finish second, we have the Europa League quarter-final plus games against Inter and Juventus.
“The next matches require levels of performance, concentration and quality far superior to what we showed today.”
