Bayer Leverkusen striker, Victor Boniface has attributed club’s first ever win of the German Bundesliga title in their 120 years history, to hard work and team spirit.
Bayer Leverkusen coach by former Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder Javier Alonso terminated Bayern Munich’s 11 years consecutive victories by beating Werder Bremen 5-0. Boniface contributed to the goals that lifted the club to the enviable height. He scored 27 goals from 27 matches in the campaign.
Commenting on his achievement Monday he wrote on his X handle. “I no lead anybody ooo. We lead ourselves,”
It was a happy ending no doubt for the striker who missed the Africa Cup of Nations due to injury and former Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro believed that his absence cost Nigeria the trophy as the team failed to beat Cote d’Ivoire in the final game.
Speaking on Boniface achievement, former Super Eagles captain Sunday Oliseh who also played in Germany with Dortmund stressed that Boniface is the player the Super Eagles need to get the goals.
Oliseh wrote: “Victor Boniface was once again extraordinary as Leverkusen grabbed its first ever Bundesliga title with 5 games left to play.
“Boniface is strong, skillful, intelligent, mobile, calm under pressure and I am convinced he will lead Nigeria to AFCON glory & more soon. Congrats.”
