Michael Chidozie, 26, a US-based Nigerian body builder who was shot by his wife about three weeks ago, has died due to his injuries.
Chidozie was shot multiple times on March 21 by his wife Keaiirra Shavoiyae Chidozie, during an argument in their home in Houston, Texas. He has been on life support at Ben Taub Hospital where he was rushed by the police. He was said to have suffered a complicated spinal cord injury.
Keaiirra who is out on bail claimed to have shot her husband in self defence. During the altercations, she was alleged to have reached for a handgun and fired in succession in front of their two children aged three and two years. Chidozie was rushed to the hospital by the police who later found a panicky Keaiira and the two kids in a parking lot.
Keaiirra, 28, will appear in court again on May 23. The children have been left in care of a family member.
Meanwhile friends and family of the late Chidozie have launched a $70,000 Go-fund-me account to cover the cost of the repatriation of his body for burial in Nigeria.
