Dangote Petroleum Refinery has made further cuts to the prices of diesel and aviation fuel.
The company announced Tuesday, that a little of diesel will go for N940, while aviation fuel will sell for N980 per litre.
Two weeks ago the Dangote Refinery had reduced price per litre from N1,700 to N1,000.
However, the N940 per litre applies only to customers who are buying five million litres and above from the refinery, while the price of N970 is for customers buying one million litres and above.
“I can confirm to you that Dangote Petroleum Refinery has entered a strategic partnership with MRS Oil and Gas stations to ensure that consumers get to buy fuel at an affordable price in all their stations, be it Lagos or Maiduguri. You can buy as low as 1 litre of diesel at N1,050 and aviation fuel at ₦980 at all major airports where Anthony Chiejina MRS operates,” said Dangote Petroleum Refinery head of communications in a statement.
“The Dangote Group is committed to ensuring that Nigerians have better welfare and as such, we are happy to announce these new prices and hope that it would go a long way to cushion the effect of economic challenges in the country,” the statement read in part.
Reacting to the latest development, The Director General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Mr Ajayi Kadiri, said that the decision of Dangote Refinery to first crash the price from about ₦1,750/litre to ₦1,200/litre, ₦1,000/litre and now ₦940, is an eloquent demonstration of the capacity of the local industries to impact the Nigerian economy positively.
He added that the trickledown effect of this intervention promises to change the dynamics of the country’s energy costs amid inadequate and rising electricity costs.
