Jadon Sancho grabbed the headlines of Borussia Dortmund beat Paris St Germain 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final clash at the Signal Iduna Park.
And Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag who sent Sancho on loan to the German Bundesliga side after a fall-out with the player, did not fail to notice his performance. Since his return to Dortmund, Sancho has enjoyed an upturn in form, netting three times and providing two assists.
“So let’s say this, yesterday he [Sancho] played very well and he’s a very good player. Yesterday he showed why Manchester United bought him and he showed he represents a high value for Manchester United, which is good,” Ten Hag said ahead of his team’s clash with Crystal Palace on Monday.
“I’m happy for Jadon, for the performance yesterday, and we’ll see what is going to happen in the future.”
United are sixth in the Premier League, six points adrift of Tottenham in fifth, with just four games left to play in what has been a turbulent campaign.
While qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League is out of reach, a spot in the Europa League is still a possibility if they can catch and pass Spurs or beat local rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
Ten Hag’s future beyond that remains the subject of speculation, with new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe expected to decide one way or the other when the season draws to a close, but the Dutchman has already begun planning for the summer transfer window.
