Ibrahim Abudullahi also known as Mandi who allegedly masterminded the March 2022 Abuja-Kaduna train hijack has been arrested by the police.
ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who is the Force Public Relations Officer, told a press gathering Thursday in Abuja the terror suspect was in custody. He added that the arrest is a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the train attack and other acts of terrorism.
Adejobi also disclosed that Mandi participated in the abduction of students from Greenfield University in 2021.
The Police said that 48 AK-47 rifles were seized during Mandi’s arrest and efforts are underway to identify his sponsor and supplier of weapons.
The train was on its way from Abuja on March 28, 2022, when it was attacked by a heavily armed terror group in the Kateri-Rijana area of Kaduna state. Many passengers were killed and others abducted. The victims remained in captivity for several months before they were released in the batches; the last set finally were set free in October 2022.
