The Nigeria army has discharged from service a Lance Corporal identified as Abdullahi Ismail, who was found guilty of having sexual relationship with a colleague’s wife.
According to reports Ismail was dismissed last week at the 231 Battalion located in Biu, Borno State. Army sources confirmed that Ismail’s dismissal was a result of his involvement with a fellow soldier’s wife, citing it as a deterrent to others engaged in similar misconduct within military barracks.
It was gathered that Lance Corporal Ismaila was notorious for sexual misconduct, leading to his eventual report to army authorities.
It was learnt that his actions, which are categorized as indecent professional misconduct and adultery with a fellow soldier’s spouse, are in violation of Sections 79 and 93 of the Armed Forces Act CAP A20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. These sections stipulate penalties including imprisonment and dismissal from service with dishonor. This development comes shortly after the Nigerian Army recently dismissed two soldiers for their involvement in the theft of armoured cables from the Dangote Refinery located in Lagos.
