Nigerian kickboxer and Mixed Martial Arts star, Lovethpatra Ekufu, said it is her strong desire to popularise combat sports and raised champions in Nigeria with the up coming Celebrity Global Fight Concert.
Speaking Thursday at the National Stadium Lagos, Ekufu a deputy superintendent of the Nigeria Police Force, started that there are lots of youth talents in the country whose energy could be geared towards making life achievement through the various sports disciplines, the MMA being one of them.
She noted that with the Celebrity Global Fight Concert billed for November at the Queens Park Events Centre Victoria Island, Lagos more youths would be inspired to take up MMA. She said the event will feature, kickboxing, WWE wrestling, celebrity boxing bouts and music concert.
“It’s a three-day event featuring combat sports, wrestling, celebrity boxing, comedy, music , beauty pageant, talent hunt show and an international global impact award.” said Ekufu.
“We are expecting artists from USA, Canada, Europe, Asia, Africa and from within Nigerian as well. it’s an international concert where all stars will showcase their talents.”
She noted that her motivation was to give back to the community from where she rose to become a world champion in Mixed Martial Arts.
“The Nigeria Police gave me a start. I graduated from the Police Academy and they graciously allowed me to travel abroad to train and become the world champion I am today with many belts. So I am back to the country to give back to the community.
“Through my foundation Lovethpatra Global Care, I have organised bouts for amateurs, this is the third year doing so, my aim is to get many champions following my footsteps. That’s why I am still standing hoping to do more.”
Apart from NMA, Efuku has promoted youth basketball and also power lifting in special sports.
She said the a first leg of the event has already been held in Abuja February 24, 2024. The Lagos event is an extension.
“We are trying to push this to the highest,” Efuku added.
“By the time we are finished, eyes will see and ears will hear and more promoters will come to Nigeria from abroad to promote their show.”
