Sprinter Blessing Ogundiran, said running in the elite category of the MTN CHAMPS has more than helped her build up for big events of the season.
Ogundiran was in Calabar during the grand finale of the MTN CHAMPS season 2 held between April 30 and May 3 and she showed her class as one of the best home based sprinters by winning the women’s 100m race largely unchallenged. As she set her sights on participating in the African Championships next month in Cameroon and probably the Olympics in August, Ogundiran is hopeful of running a fantastic time to keep her in frame for a team spot.
“It was a good outing for me in Calabar and it’s a good build up for me.
“In the heats I did 11.44 seconds and in the final 11.55. It is a good start, with a couple of more races I can do a better time as look forward to Cameroon African Championships,” said Ogundiran a member of the African Games gold winning 4x100m Nigeria women team.
Meanwhile in the MTN CHAMPS youth category, Baptist Vocational displayed a commanding performance, winning three of the six trophies up for grabs in the Cadet (U14) Boys’ and Girls’ category, as well as the Youth (U17) Boys’ class. Abua Government won the Youth Girls’ category, while Team MVP A won the Junior title, with HIT dominating the senior category.
