Despite marrying one woman Seun Kuti says men should feel free to marry as many wives as they can since according to him monogamy doesn’t work.
Kuti, whose Afrobeat legend father Fela Anikulapo Kuti married 27 wives in one day, argued that marrying many wives for a man demonstrates power and affluence.
“Monogamy doesn’t work. As a powerful man, you must have the support of numerous powerful goddesses. You know, women that are in your life because the ancestors want to put them there. You share with them,” the Afrobeat musician said during a chat on Bad and Boujee podcast with Tolani Baj and Moet Abebe.
Seun revealed that, in addition to Fela’s 27 spouses, he had over 100 concubines, many of whom lived in the family home.
