Real Madrid and England midfield star Jude Bellingham said it is in Real Madrid’s character to win after they survive a first half scare from Bourussia Dortmund to win the Champions League title for the 15th time.
Dortmund threw everything they had at Real Madrid, but Thibaut Courtoir denied them twice after they hit the woodwork.
But after the break Real Madrid took over proceedings, Dani Carvajal headed in the first goal while Vinicius Jr. scored late to deny Dortmund any chance of a fight back.
Bellingham who set up the second goal said: I have to be honest, they [Dortmund] were the better team in the first half,” Bellingham told DAZN. “They could’ve been two or three up.
“But it’s just that character… [we can] come back to haunt you.”
He added that winning the Champions League for the first time was a big thing for him.
“I couldn’t have dreamed it better.
“I’ve always dreamed of playing in these games,” he told TNT Sports.
“It’s got to be up there in terms of the perfect season. I can’t put it into words, it’s the best night of my life.”
Bellingham spent three seasons with Dortmund, playing more than 100 times for the German club before moving to Spain last summer.
“The club I’m at now is so special to me and so is my old club. It wouldn’t be possible without them. I’ll always be grateful and always have respect for what that club did for me.”
