South Africa’s coach, Hugo Broos has said that his team Bafana Bafana would have beaten the Super Eagles in the 2023 African Cup of Nations semi-final but for poor luck.
And so in Friday’s World qualifiers against the three-time African Champions Broos boasted to news reporters after training Monday that the Bafana Bafana will deny the Super Eagles victory as his target was to collect four points from the games against Nigeria away and Zimbabwe at home.
“Everybody knows that everyone of us wants to go and wants to be qualified for the World Cup in 2026. We are in front of two very tough games.
“First of all Nigeria finalist AFCON, players who are playing in the best competitions in Europe. At the other side we saw also what we can do against them in the AFCON.
“If we had a little bit luck on our side we were in the final and not Nigeria. We were the best team in the semifinals, we could have won that so we don’t have to be afraid.”
Meanwhile the Super Eagles camp is begining to gather speed as more players have reached Uyo venue of the match on Friday.
Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Frank Onyeka and Paul Onuachu delayed by the Labour Union strike arrived Tuesday bringing the number of players in camp to 20.
Alex Iwobi, Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye and Ademola Lookman are expected to join the team before Wednesday.
