Nigerian high jumper, Temitope Adeshina has improved on her national record after clearing 1.97m at the final of NCAA collegiate Championships Sunday in Eugene Oregon USA.
She erased the previous mark of 1.96m personal best she achieved in January 2024 to fulfill her dream of competing at the 2024 Olympics. She hit the 1.97m qualifying standard. Her sights perhaps will now be on breaking the 2.00m barrier and establish herself in the world top ten. South Africa’s Hestrie Cloete holds the African record a 2.06m jump since 2003.
The Texas Tech’s student made three attempts at clearing 2.00m but went home with the bronze behind went away with a bronze medal in the event behind Rose Yeboah and Elena Kulichenko.
Speaking on her new exploit high jump coach Kola Adebayo, stated that the best is yet to come for the athlete.
“She can definitely break 2.00m before the Olympics. All we need is just little push and she will get there.”
