There was a fire outbreak at the barely six months old Dangote refinery situated at the Lekki free trade zone in Lagos.
The cause of the inferno, which occurred Wednesday remain unknown. There were no causalities and no structural damages, Dangote refinery officials confirmed.
“We have swiftly contained a minor fire incident at our effluent treatment plant(ETP), today Wednesday 26th of June. There is no cause for alarm as the refinery is operating and there is no recorded injury or body harm to all our staff on duty,” Anthony Chiejina who is the company’s head of corporate communications said.

The 650,000 barrels per day started churning out diesel and aviation fuel in January.
In April, the company commenced supplying petroleum products to the local market bring the cost of diesel from 1,700 to N1,000 per liter.
