Fourteen persons lost their lives and many others injured when a truck rammed into a group of worshipers in Imawa in Kura Local Government Area of Kano State.
The FRSC sector commander in the state, Ibrahim Abdullahi, confirmed the accident to journalists in Kano. He said the accident occurred when the truck with registration number MKA 537 XN lost control and crashed into the worshipers who had just concluded Friday prayers.
Mr Abdullahi said, “We received a distress call at about 01:50 p.m. on June 28, 2024. After receiving the information, we quickly dispatched our personnel and vehicle to the scene of the accident.
“The FRSC is committed to road safety and urges all road users to adhere strictly to traffic regulations to prevent such avoidable tragedies.”
Speaking on the tragedy deputy senate president, Barau Jibrin said in a statement on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir: ”With profound sadness, we mourn the tragic loss of 14 worshippers crushed by a trailer after Juma’at prayers on Friday in Kano.
”Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of the victims. We offer our deepest condolences in this hour of unimaginable grief.
“We pray for the souls of the departed to rest in Aljanatul Firdausi and for the Almighty Allah to grant strength and comfort to those they left behind.”
