Nigeria’s national women’s team the Super Falcons are expected to fly out Thursday for a two-week training stint in Seville, Spain after coach Danny Waldrum unveiled his squad for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The Super Falcons will play their first group C game against Brazil on July 25 and coach Waldrum is hopeful of emerging from the difficult group also featuring Spain and Japan.
Waldrum picked captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender Osinachi Ohale, forward Asisat Oshoala in his final list for the mission in Paris.
Others who made the cut are defenders Oluwatosin Demehin and Michelle Alozie, midfielders Deborah Abiodun, Halimatu Ayinde, Christy Ucheibe and Toni Payne, and forwards Esther Okoronkwo, Chinwendu Ihezuo and Uchenna Kanu.
The foreign based players who are currently in off season and the selected home based players with team officials will fly out from Abuja to Sevilla, Spain on Thursday night, with the rest of the playing body and technical team also arriving in Sevilla on Friday for a two-week training camp.
The team is scheduled to depart Sevilla for France on Thursday, 18th July.
The nine-time African champions are making their first appearance at the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament for the first time since 2008 in China.
