Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been drawn in group D of the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers alongside Benin Republic, Rwanda and Libya.
The draws which were held in South Africa Thursday saw the Super Eagles in the same group with Benin Republic and Rwanda, two teams they must beat in their remaining 2026 World Cup qualifying matches after falling four points behind the group C leading teams.
The Super Eagles failed to beat the Cheetahs of Benin Republic; they lost 2-1 in a game they should have won in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. The Super Eagles will play home and away against Rwanda leading the group on goal difference next year.
The AFCON qualifying matches will be played over the FIFA windows of September, October, and November this year to determine who qualifies for the tournament to be staged in Morocco between from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
Winners and runners-up qualify from each group except that containing Morocco, who will take part to gain competitive match practice. Morocco qualify automatically as hosts so only the best placed of the other three teams in their section will secure a place.
