Afrobeats star, Divine Ikubor a.k.a Rema, said seeing his mother shuffling and trekking long distance was one of the factors that drove him to success.
Rema who is out with a new album ‘Heis’ said during an interview with Capital Xtra London, that having seen poverty in his family he was very determined to improve on his mom’s life and as soon as he made money he bought her a car.
“I was tired of seeing my mum trekking every day; she didn’t even have money to take a bus or bike. So I had to take it to the next level ASAP,” said Rema
“The moment I made money, I got her a car. We went for dinner, then I gave her that car.
“A lot of boys would go for their own cars first but I was still trekking, but I had to get a car for my mum first.
“She’s a great mum. She’s the reason I’m successful. Her prayers. She’s really proud of me.”
