Bandits kill 2 night travelers, kidnap five others in Ondo
Bandits armed with assault rifles have killed two persons and kidnapped five others who were travelling from Onitsha to Akure the Ondo State capital on Friday night.
The armed men numbering 15 according to eyewitness accounts ambushed the Toyota Sienna bus the passengers were travelling along the Ifon/Owo Expressway at about 11pm at Omi Alafa village in Ifon, Ose local government area of Ondo State.
They fired sporadically on sighting the vehicle and the driver and a female passenger in the front seat were hit; they died on the scene, the gunmen marched five captured passengers into the forest, while two other passengers were lucky to have escaped unhurt.
The Ondo State Police spokesperson Mrs. Fumilayo Odunlami, confirmed the crime.
“Our men are fully on the ground, combing the forest to ensure that the kidnapped victims are rescued,” she stated.
