Given a second chance to express herself and her beauty, after being forced out Miss South Africa contest, Chidimma Vanessa Adetshina, will represent Taraba State in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.
The Silverbird group, the promoters of the Miss Universe Nigeria invited the 21-year-old Ms. Adetshina after her entry to contest Miss South Africa led to a national outrage in that country, because of her nationality. She was born in South Africa to a Nigerian father and a Mozambican mother.
She made it to the top 11 of the Miss South Africa contest, but soon questions about her roots came up for discussions and she had to withdraw from the contest fearing for the safety of her family.
Ms. Adetshina, now Contestant No. 25 representing Taraba State in the Miss Universe Nigeria expressed delight for the invitation and the support she received from Nigerians.
Silverbird Group/National Director of Miss Universe Nigeria, Guy Murray-Bruce, in an interview with Arise TV accused the South African government of orchestrating the bullying of Ms. Adetshina out of the Miss South Africa contest.
“I reached out to the National Director of Miss South Africa. The organisers were fine with her, but the South African government was against her.
“The Miss South Africa organisation was transparent and sympathetic, but the government was not kind.”
