Delta State Sports Commission has assured parents of the over 500 kids invited to camping for the National Youth Games of their children’s safety and well-being.
The NYG is billed to run from September 9-19 and Delta State in the second year of hosting the youth development games is set to maintain its dominance for seven years running.
Recognising the role the parents have to play in encouraging their children to participate in sports, Delta State Sports Commission director-general, Festus Ohwojero said there was a need to ensure that the State’s athletes are well treated so that they would be motivated to excel.
“Everything has been put in place to ensure that the kids do not experience any discomfort while they are in camp,” Mr. Ohwojero said.
“Their safety, wellbeing is guaranteed and they are in good hands.”
He also enjoined the parents to pray for the success of their wards as Delta was a praying State and believed in the efficacy of prayers in every venture.
Over 200 coaches and officials will be on hand to prepare the athletes for the NYG.
Mr. Ohwojero noted Delta State governor Sheriff Oborevwori is committed to maintaining Delta’s strong sports tradition and State is poised to host a successful NYG.
Mr Ohwojero also enjoined the Coaches and officials to take their jobs seriously as they have the backing of Governor Oborevwori to produce a formidable team.
