Raheem Sterling has revealed his excitement at joining title chasing Arsenal on a season-long loan.
Sterling, who was made redundant at Chelsea by coach Enzo Maresca, completed the loan deal on deadline day. He had his medicals on Friday.
“Let’s go to work!”
“I’m super excited to be signing for Arsenal. I can’t wait to see the gunners at the Emirates Stadium to show what I can do,” said Sterling who will wear the number 10 shirt for the Gunners.
Sterling joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2022 for a £47.5 million fee and has made 81 appearances for the west London club since then.
His move to north London sees Sterling reunite with Mikel Arteta having previously worked under the Spanish coach during his time at City.
Arteta, who won two Premier League titles as Pep Guardiola’s assistant, is a huge admirer of the forward’s and the pair still have a strong relationship from their time together at the Etihad.
“I spoke with Edu and I said that it’s something you can see from the outside, you can see the real togetherness from Mikel’s time here and you see the journey that the boys are on, and you can see the hunger, and I keep saying again, the togetherness is something I’m looking to be a part of,” he added.
