Victor Osimhen for now has resigned to fate and looking at staying at Napoli as two different deals for him to move away from Italy fell flat.
Napoli blocked his move to Saudi Arabia by asking for €5m more from Al-Ahli that tabled €70m plus €10m in add-ons. Osimhen had agreed terms that would see him earning more than €10m in wages and bonus.
On the other hand, Chelsea offered €4m in wages and performance based €4m allowances, especially if they qualify for the Champions League. Osimhen rejected the deal. There was a heated argument between the Osimhen and Napoli on deadline day as his wishes to leave the club vanished
But now according to Football Italia reports coach Antonio Conte, who had not included him in Osimhen plans this season, is having a rethink of how he can be useful in his squad for the season. Romelu Lukaku who had signed from Chelsea has opted to wear the number 11 jersey paving way for Osimhen to keep his number nine shirt as the club looks to patch things up with the striker.
It is not yet clear how Osimhen, who was not part of Napoli preseason, would pick himself up and play football again with the 2023 Serie A champions.
