Edo State governor Godwin Obaseki has been awed by the achievement of Divine Ikubor a.k.a Rema over his phenomenal rise to global stardom in space of eight years.
Mr. Obaseki also had kind words for the State’s female football club Edo Queens who recently won the WAFU B CAF Women Champions League qualifier in Cote d’Ivoire on their debut at the continental stage, after winning the Nigeria women football league. Writing on his X page governor Obaseki said: “Only few could have imagined that @heisrema, who was one of the backstage acts at my inauguration in 2016, would achieve global sensation status by 2024.
“Or that Edo Queens, who joined our women’s football league barely three years ago, would go on to conquer West Africa and be poised for African dominance.
“But these are just a few anecdotes of the resurgence of the great Edo nation.”
Rema is billed to hold a home coming concert this weekend in the Edo State capital city.
