Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed that Rangers coach Fidelis Ilechukwu and Remo Stars’ Daniel Ogunmodede will assist Augustine Eguavoen, in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
The NFF turned to coach Eguaveon after German gaffer, Bruno Labbadia shunned the chance to lead the Super Eagles.
NFF director of communications, Ademola Olajire, said in a statement Monday the two Nigeria Premier Football League will be available in Uyo to help the team against Benin Republic this weekend.
“Ilechukwu led the Flying Antelopes to triumph in Nigeria’s elite division last season, with Ogunmodede’s Remo Stars in second place.
“They will be joined in Uyo by Tomaz Zorec, a fitness trainer from Slovenia, goalkeeper trainer Olatunji Baruwa and match analyst Eboboritse Uwejamomere,” Olajire said.
Already players invited for the matches are already in Uyo, they include Ademola Lookman, William Ekong, Ola Aina, Taiwo Awoniyi, Semi Ajayi, Olisa Ndah and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
Olajire said the team would leave for Kigali on Sunday for Tuesday’s Matchday 2 clash with the Bees of Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium, starting at 2 pm.
